    Spondylitis Association of America's mission is to provide information and support to patients and their families, educate physicians to recognize early symptoms and initiate appropriate treatment, expand public awareness and understanding of spondylitis and fund research. They have local chapters, call the 800 number for the location of a chapter in your area. They provide assistance to persons wishing to start a support group in their locality, and provide parent-to-parent matching through their, "Member Matching Network."

    The Spondylitis Association of America publishes a quarterly newsletter, Spondylitis Plus, that is a part of membership, and a booklet, "A Guidebook for Patients," that gives an overview of spondylitis and its management. It is available in English and Spanish. The Association also has several brochures including, "Juvenile Ankylosing Spondylitis," "A Family of Related Diseases," and a fact sheet that answers commonly asked questions. They have a bibliography of books that is available to members and an exercise videotape, "Land & water."

    The Association collects information on physicians and researchers who treat/study the condition and disseminates this information to its members. They provide information and referrals to other resources. Additionally, they host a national conference, call for further information.
