The primary mission of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America is to raise funds for research to find the cause of and cure for Crohn's disease and colitis. They also seek to educate patients, physicians, and the public to increase awareness about the nature of IBD and its complications. CCFA has local chapters and will provide assistance to persons wishing to start a local chapter or support group. They provide parent-to-parent and patient-to-patient matching through the Mutual Help Network that is part of their news magazine.

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America publishes a magazine, Foundation Focus, three times a year, that is part of membership fees. They also offer several brochures, including "Questions & Answers About Diet & Nutrition," "A Teachers Guide to Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis," "Questions & Answers About Pregnancy," and "Questions & Answers about Surgery." Call or write for a complete listing. CCFA has a bibliography of books and articles that are available to members and can be ordered from CCFA's customer service representatives.

The Foundation collects information on physicians and researchers who treat/study the condition and disseminate this information to the membership.
