The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance - a national non-profit voluntary health organization - unites families, caregivers, health professionals and scientists with government, business and community service groups in a nationwide movement to advance infant safety and survival across America, support bereaved families, and hasten the elimination of SIDS through research. Forged through the merger of national and regional SIDS groups formed over four decades ago, the SIDS Alliance was created in 1987 as an umbrella organization for the many diverse entities involved in SIDS. Through our research and education programs, the SIDS Alliance has helped reduce the rate of SIDS by 42% since 1992. Despite this enormous progress, SIDS remains the #1 cause of death for infants from one month to one year of age.
